About Wikimédia Magyarország Egyesület Wikimédia Magyarország Egyesület (Wikimedia Hungary) is an association of public utility. Our goal is to empower and promote collecting, organising and distributing human knowledge and giving every single person free access to the sum off all human knowledge. We promote the creation, operation and distribution collections of knowledge that are freely editable and usable. The Association is part of the 39-chapter network of the Wikimedia Foundation, its aim is mainly targeted at supporting Wikipedia and its sister projects but it is independent from and does not exercise oversight over them. About the Wikimedia Foundation The Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit charitable corporation organized under the laws of Florida, USA and physically located in San Francisco, California, USA. The Foundation maintains and develops open content, wiki-based projects and releases their content free for the public. Its activities include the operation and maintenance of the servers of Wikipedia and numerous other projects, and the development of the wiki software used by them. It sustains itself from public donations and trusts.
About the Wikimedia projects The Wikimedia Foundation – with the help of thousands of volunteers over the years – maintains a number of independent projects, most of which have a Hungarian edition. The information presented on these sites can be distributed, used and modified by anyone; the information is collected by volunteers in an open and transparent system that anyone can join.
